Breeder’s Cup Classic horse betting preview

Here’s a breeders cup betting breakdown of the field favorites

Breeder’s Cup Classic horse betting preview | News Article by HorseRacingBetting.com

The main event of Breeder’s Cup weekend is the Breeder’s Cup Classic, which pits the fastest horses from around the globe against each other with a $6 million purse up for grabs.

Last year, the Classic was especially exciting with Triple Crown winner American Pharoah completing horse racing’s Grand Slam by winning at Keeneland. This year, the race may not hold the same amount of hype as 2015, but the 2016 field is a who’s-who of horse racing.
Here’s a breeders cup betting breakdown of the field favorites:

California Chrome (-110)
The odds-on-favorite has drawn the No. 4 gate for the Breeder’s Cup Classic and comes into Santa Anita with an unblemished record in 2016, winning all six of his races – most recently the Awesome Again G1 at the beginning of October. That race was a bit of a preview, having taken place at Santa Anita. California Chrome didn’t run in the Classic last year but did finish third in the 2014 race, which was also held at Santa Anita.

Arrogate (+250)
For the second horse on the board, this Bob Baffert-trained 3-year-old is a nice value bet. He’s placed first in four straight races, blowing away the competition, and two of those wins have comes at Santa Anita. Arrogate is coming off an impressive victory at the Travers Stakes in late August, which is always a tough run for the favorites, and was recently dubbed “the horse to beat” in the Classic by none other than California Chrome jockey Victor Espinoza.

Frosted (+400)
This 4-year-old horse doesn’t have any prestigious wins on its resume but always runs well and steps up to its competition. Frosted has six career wins (six second-place finishes as well) with two of those coming this summer, riding into the Winner’s Circle at the Metropolitan Handicap and the Whitney Stakes. He ran in the shadow of American Pharoah last year and would be a solid wager to at least show at the Breeder’s Cup Classic Saturday.

Other odds: Melatonin +900, Effinex +1500, Hoppertunity +1500, Keen Ice +2000, Shaman Ghost +2000, War Story +3500, Win the Space +3500
